Match Rules

The following rules apply to Club bookings on the match lake:

Fishing Matches will be of 5 hours or less in length. Any clubs wishing to book matches must follow fishery rules including the match rules listed below and pre book and pay in advance for the match.

Keep nets:

  • All nets and unhooking mats, weighing slings provided by the fishery. All others are banned.
  •  Please avoid handling the fish as much as possible; all fish to be netted-in, unhooked via side of net and placed into keep net from the landing net.
  • Only the Fishery’s own keep nets are to be used.
  • Carp Net: No more than 50lb must be kept in one carp keep net at any one time. Crucian carp to be placed in Silver fish keep net
  • Silver Fish Net: No more than 30lb must be kept in one keep net at any one time
  • No fish larger than 4lb in weight must be placed in the keep nets - it should be weighed and returned to the water immediately.

Bait:

The following baits are NOT to be used on the match lake:

  • Cat Meat
  • Dog Meat
  • Artificial Baits
  • Nut based baits
  • Boilies of any size

The maximum permitted bait is 6 PINTS. An example of a typical match bait tray is as follows:

  • 1kg of groundbait = 2pts
  • 1kg of low oil based feed pellets = 2pts
  • 1 Tin Sweetcorn = 1/2pt
  • 1 Tin luncheon meat = 1/2pt
  • 1 pt maggot = 1pt

General

  • Any unused bait is to be disposed of in the bins provided. Under no circumstances is unwanted bait to be thrown into the lake at the end of the match.
  • All litter to be taken home or placed in the bin provided.
  • Keep nets etc. will be collected by the fishery’s staff after the match. Please leave on the bank side by peg.
